Redesigning Quora

This project walks through the journey of identifying the problems in the mobile application of Quora and refining the task flow and sitemaps accordingly. The core focus is to redesign the UI by slowly transitioning from lo-fi wireframes to hi-fi wireframes and finally mockups by updating visual elements and developing the prototype for the same.
Why Quora?
Quora is a unique Q/A platform that blends itself with social networking and knowledge sharing, that are essential to empower the future by fostering global collaboration, innovation and continuous learning. We chose to redesign it because of its potential to enhance user-engagement and create a more seamless experience by addressing existing usability gaps.

Problems Identification. Assessing the unmet needs.
We were at square 1 to begin with so before directly spotting problems and not forcing ourselves into it, we used the application with a blank state and also other related applications, and mapped out the same through competitive analysis on the basis of certain parameters.

After we got a clear clue about the functionality of the app and other similar apps, we observed a group of users accomplishing certain tasks on Quora. On the basis of their experiences, we did task analysis of the task most of the users found to be confusing. Then, heuristic evaluation was done to identify problems before making changes.


Heuristic Evaluation
Upgrading Flows & Structures. Beginning to refine.
Making changes on an existing application is not an overnight task if the tiniest details of the structures need to be studied well and placed in the refined version. To create wireframes smoothly, we first created refined sitemap and task flow of the flawed task we detected.


Designing & Prototyping. Bringing the change to life.
We progressively transitioned from initial paper wireframes to digital mockups, ensuring a structured and iterative design process that enhances clarity, precision, and design fidelity at each stage.
